Learning Objective 1
Be able to create a proposal with sample materials for an original media product to client brief
|
P1 Proposal
Type Of Proposal - My proposal is for a festival that will take place in Liverpool as part of a culture campaign, this campaign will allow tourists to visit the city and allow exposure for liverpool
Form and Genre - My advertisement will be in the form of a website and print products this allows me to reach my target audience well as i will be hosting my event to young adults and families who will see the website and be attracted to the event.
My Audio-Visual/Print product will contain these specific elements...
Content - The content of the festival will be as follows; i plan for this event to be ale to celebrate the British heritage of music, this means that only British artists will be performing. i plan for a host of top headliners that will span my target audience, ranging from classic British rock to pop to folk, this ensures everyone is able to get something out of the event.
M1
Target audience - My target audience will be catered towards the younger adults and families of the united kingdom, this means that our demographics will be wide and allow many people to be interested in the event as it will be for all ages etc. my initial idea is that this event will be similar to the likes of Glastonbury, by this I mean that it is very much a family event but definitely has some stuff to offer for the younger ages.
Resources and personnel - I will need to use my own assets to be able to create my products, by this i mean I will be using my own photos (or stock photos) in order to create the website, this ensures that there is no copyright infringement on my website.
In my pictures I want to try and aim to get a very diverse group of people to model for me, this ensures that people will feel included when they click on the website, eg I don't want a festival with primarily teenage boys as a picture, this means girls will not be as likely to come to the event as it will be deemed a "manly event"
As for using sound, I don't think this will be used very much on the website become I don't plan to use and sound clips, but incase I do I need to use copyright free sounds for the same reason as the photos.
Advertising & Marketing - I will mainly be distributing my advertisements through the website, this will act as the central hub for anything related to my event, the website will allow people to come on and be able to view the event as a whole, then proceed to buy tickets. the website will show pictures of the event, this means that people will be more enticed to buy pictures.
As well as the website, I will be using print products to advertise my event; this will include posters and billboards. I will be making posters that will direct people to the website, on the posters it will have bright colours and pictures that will be used to entice people to look further into the event; this goes the same with billboards.

P2 P3 Production Plan
M2 Legal and Ethical Issues
What is meant by Legal and Ethical issues?
Essentially Legality means an act is in accordance with the law, Ethics is about concepts of right and wrong behaviour. Some actions may be legal but in some people's opinion not ethical. in media this means, there a a lot of laws put in place to ensure that legal and ethical rules are not broken. this could include spreading false information etc.
How will I adhere to this issues?
While making my media product I have to ensure that I follow these rules, as my product is an in person event this means that this will bring a lot more issues that if it was online product, such as legal contracts for headliners and food stalls etc. because of these issues I will be making a priority that all laws are followed to ensure no issues arise.
How are these issues regulated?
These issues are regulated through a bunch of independent and governmental companies, OFCOM is one of these, this company is in charge of regulating what can be broadcasted on tv, radio and online within the UK. they actively search for complaints about media and take action against any products that go against the law.

M3 M4 FINAL PRODUCTS
Name of the event: Liverpool Music Culture Festival
Location: Sefton Park, Liverpool

Date: 25-28th August 2023
Location: Sefton Park, Liverpool

Date: 25-28th August 2023
This website will be used as my main advertising product for my event, it showcases the event by having all of the necessary information for a person to go and buy tickets etc, on the front page it shows images of what the event will look like to try and entice people to look further, and as we scroll down the page we see more and more information that is designed to allow people to become interested in my event.
Headliners are showcased on the website also to attract a wider target audience, as of now the two stages are being presented on the website, each stage holds a number of headliners which apply to different demographics and fits my target audience, the colours on my website also stand out, I used a large picture of a union jack at a festival setting to work with the setting of being a British music festival, and so I used these colours throughout the website, along with continuing with a clean white background that allows the information on screen to stand out.

This is the main poster that I will be using for my event, this poster shows off all of the relevant information that is needed for the event such as the location and when it will be happening, for the colour scheme I decided to go with a purple pallet, this is because I want the poster to stand out as people walk past it, and it should catch an eye. the poster also features some of the biggest headliners that will be playing at the event this is because this will entice more people to look into our event if they see a big familiar face.
Learning Objective 4
P5 D1 Be able to carry out post-production techniques and processes for an original media product to a client brief
|
Has my product met the brief?
From the client brief, I believe that my product has met all of the terms that were set. the point of the product was to get maximum attention for the Festival, and to do this I made advertising products that were designed for the event, I believe all of this matched the client brief.
Has my product met the standards of a advertisement?
I believe that my products met the expectations of a advertisement of this measure, for my
website it had all of the necessary information and techniques to gain attention, such as having pictures of the event and videos etc. and the posters had the same affect of gaining attention as a print advertisement.
What could I improve for my product?
Looking back at my product I realise there was some errors in the way of my advertising, these errors do not necessarily mean a down crease of attention for the event but they could of been put to better use. an example of one of the errors i made was the colour scheme of the website, looking back I don't think it works as well as I thought. having the mix of dark extravagant colours worked well for the website but for some parts I had a lime green colour which looks too "natural" for the event.
I had some feedback from my peers also through a questionnaire that i sent around, within this questionnaire it asks about what people perception on the event is looking at the current advertising and later asks what we could improve. and this came back with a lot of great feedback everyone seemed happy with the current state of the website and print products and think they give a good look at the event.

Evidence of effects and tools used
I used photoshop to design my print products, this allowed me to use many tools that in put to use to create a good product. such as using the shape and colour tool to add geometrical shapes to the poster which added a layer of depth. I also added a line that goes across all of the performers at the top, this was done through the paint tool. i then added a glow and hue to make it look 'magical'
To create my website, I used the web production website knows as wix, this allowed me to easily add attributes and add pictures to my website. it was the best choice for a website for this type of business, as it also allowed me to host my own ticket sales on the website which worked out well. wix allowed me to choose exactly how i wanted my website to turn out, by offering a host of templates that suit my needs.
Why did I use Colours? - The colours I used on my website and print designs were vibrant colours such as purple and blue and red. I used these as I tried to get the max audience attention from my products, th8is meant that vibrant colours were more likely to attract customers and mean that they would spend more time looking at the products. I also used the union jack colours of red white and blue, this is because i wanted to keep the style of it being a British music festival so them colours fitted well.
What changed from the original brief? - From the original brief i made some executive decisions to change some aspects of the products for the better, this includes using a different colour scheme and different fonts that would stand out more than previous. these decisions turned out to be the right idea as it came back with a lot of positive feedback from peers.
Strengths And Weaknesses - Within my product i have utilised a lot of my strengths, this includes using a lot of my photoshop skills that i have learnt and using them within my product to give it a more professional look. this turned out well but could of been improved. one of my main weaknesses was my time and due date for the product, if i had more time i could of worked on more products to backup the main website such as more billboards and posters.
What theories have i utilised? - within my product i have used a number of media theories to gain attraction from and audience, most significantly have used the uses and gratifications theory, which means i have Put in effort to satisfy needs of the audience, this is done by giving the correct information of the event through my website and posters. this theory was first introduced by Elihu Katz the Uses and Gratification Approach, when he came up with the notion that people use the media to their benefit.
